PG-43: Music

2. Bail Me Out

(PG-43)
To get us out of what has already become the worst recession most of us have ever seen, the powers to be have decided to bail out the very institutions that caused this mess in the first place. We can only hope that the recovery will trickle down to us common folk half as fast as the boom was lowered. Why couldn't they bail out Main Street and let Wall Street hope for recovery? Why not take some stock in the American people? Bail US out.
LYRICS

The stock market's in the tank and so's my spirit
My 401(k) fell to 104
I had not retired but I was near it
Now I'm gonna have to work a few years more

But I wasn't part of that Wall Street hanky-panky
And I don't even know what a credit default swap is
So I made a call to Paulson and Bernanke
And politely asked if they could tell me this

Where did all the money go - Was it some greedy CEO
Why should he get rich while I'm losing my house
Can't Obama fix this mess by redistributing the wealth
Can't you take a little stock in me - bail me out

The cost of gas maxed out my credit card limit
I'll have to cut back on cigarettes and beer
The bank's gonna raise my monthly mortgage payment
The interest alone is more'n I make all year

But the politicians raised a record in donations
To lie about why the other guy lied before
They spent eight dollars for every vote in the nation
If I'da known that I'da voted a whole lot more

Is that where all the money goes - Was it for Sarah Palin's clothes
Why should she look good while I'm losing my house
Can't Obama fix this mess by redistributing the wealth
Can't you take a little stock in me - bail me out

To get back to where I was I'll need a bigger stimulus
Can't you take a little stock in me - bail me out
